| Description: |
The County requires a contractor for construction for construction of Cardiff Park Tower and demolition and construction for the North Shelter. In April 2024, Sturgeon County hired Williams Engineering to assess the safety and condition of the observation tower at Cardiff Park. The assessment revealed that while the tower's overall condition was fair, the required repairs and upgrades to ensure code compliance were extensive and costly. The restoration expenses were comparable to those for constructing a new structure. As a result, the County decided to replace the existing tower with a new, compliant observation tower at a new location that showcases the entire park with better views Additionally, the North Shelter, one of the park's most popular amenities, requires replacement to align with the recently updated South Shelter as part of the park improvement initiatives. In August 2024, an assessment conducted by Williams Engineering revealed that the concrete pad supporting the North Shelter was in significant disrepair, rendering it incapable of adequately supporting a new picnic shelter. The intent behind replacing these structures is to enhance Cardiff Park, creating a more enjoyable and enriching experience for the community. |
